About this stretch
Marine Drive takes its name from the stretch of highway that hugs the river near Byasi, where wide white beaches sit against emerald water. It is the balanced run: enough serious rapids to get your heart moving, enough calm water to actually look up at the mountains.
You start with warm-up waves, work through a run of Grade III features in the middle section, then finish along the famous beaches where the river slows and swimming is safe. Photographers love this stretch — the light on the water between Byasi and Shivpuri is the best on the river.
It suits mixed groups where some people have rafted before and some have not: the guides can pick lines that soak the front row while keeping the rest of the raft comfortable.
