Devprayag Expedition: A Complete Guide

Seventy kilometres, one night on a beach, and everything you should know before you commit.

The Devprayag run starts where the Ganga itself starts, at the confluence of the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda. Over two days you cover about seventy kilometres, camping one night on a river beach carried in by raft.

Day one is long and committing — roughly forty kilometres through gorge sections with few eddies and long read-and-run water. Guides make camp decisions on the day, based on level and current permissions, so nobody promises you a specific beach in advance.

The evening is the part people remember: a fire, food cooked on the sand, and a canyon quiet enough to hear the river breathe. Day two runs the famous Rishikesh rapids as a finale.

You should be sixteen or older, able to swim in moving water, and reasonably fit. Previous rafting experience is strongly recommended. Book at least ten days ahead — we run a limited number of departures each season.
